About the job

The Porter is responsible for welcoming guests upon arrival at the hotel entrance, handling errands, and taking charge of guests’ luggage before, during, and after their stay. He is also responsible for managing parcels, letters, and packages, as well as delivering items to guest rooms.

He ensures a warm farewell at the time of guest departure, expressing gratitude and helping as needed. When not engaged in guest arrivals, departures, or deliveries, the Lobby Porter remains present in the hotel lobby, near the entrance, ready to assist guests promptly and efficiently.

The Baggage Porter will also be required to work night shifts on a rotational basis with other lobby and polyvalent baggage team members.

As Porter, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Warmly welcome guests upon arrival, offering assistance with luggage and ensuring a smooth and pleasant first impression.
  • Handle, store, and deliver luggage promptly, safely, and efficiently.
  • Assist guests with transportation needs, including arranging taxis, valet parking, and airport transfers.
  • Coordinate closely with the reception, concierge, and housekeeping teams to ensure seamless guest service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in lobby and luggage storage areas.
  • Handle guest requests or concerns with professionalism, courtesy, and discretion.
  • Monitor guest arrivals and departures to anticipate needs and deliver personalized service.
  • Uphold the highest standards of service, ensuring every interaction reflects the quality and luxury of Mandarin Oriental.

As Porter, we expect from you: 

  • Availability for flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Previous successful experience in a similar role within a luxury establishment.
  • Excellent presentation and grooming standards.
  • A courteous, proactive, and service-oriented attitude.
  • Strong sense of organization, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  •  Fluency in a third language appreciated (Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish).
