About the job
Based at the San Clemente Palace within the Culinary Department in Venice, the Commis Chef is responsible for supporting the kitchen team in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes, ensuring consistency, cleanliness, and excellence in line with Mandarin Oriental Standards. The Commis Chef reports to the Chef de Partie.
As Commis Chef, you will responsible for the following duties:
Assist the Chef de Rang in providing refined table service in line with luxury standards
Prepare and maintain mise en place, including cutlery, linens, and condiments
Greet guests and support their comfort throughout the dining experience
Serve food and beverages efficiently, professionally, and with attention to detail
Clear and reset tables promptly between courses and after guest departure
Ensure cleanliness and presentation of the dining area at all times
Communicate guest needs and special requests to the Chef de Rang or kitchen team
As Commis Chef we expect from you:
A genuine passion for hospitality and guest service
A basic understanding of fine dining service techniques
A high level of attention to detail and polished personal presentation
A collaborative spirit and adaptability in a fast-paced, luxury environment
Previous experience in upscale restaurants or luxury hotels (preferred)
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
Fluency in English and Italian; other languages are a plus
