About the job
The Demi Chef is responsible for assisting the Chef de Partie in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to the highest standards. This position requires basic leadership skills, kitchen knowledge, and a hands-on approach to maintaining quality, hygiene, and efficiency in daily kitchen operations.
As a Demi Chef, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Assist in the preparation and presentation of food items in assigned kitchen sections.
Supervise and guide Commis and kitchen helpers under your station.
Ensure food quality, portion consistency, and presentation meet the restaurant’s standards.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene of the workstation and equipment.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock rotation and requisitions.
Follow recipes, cooking methods, and plating instructions accurately.
Ensure all food preparation complies with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance issues, or shortage of supplies.
Support in daily mise-en-place preparation and kitchen closing procedures.
Work closely with other chefs to ensure smooth kitchen operations, especially during service hours.
As Demi Chef, we expect from you:
Solid knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
Good communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.
Physically fit and able to handle tools and equipment.
Attention to detail, cleanliness, and food safety.
Willingness to learn and adapt to different kitchen stations.
Minimum 2–3 years of kitchen experience, preferably in a hotel or high-volume restaurant.
