Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina is an upcoming luxury alpine resort set above the renowned mountain village of Cortina d’Ampezzo, in the heart of the Dolomites. Scheduled to open in summer 2025, this landmark property will feature 83 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites, many with balconies offering breathtaking views. Blending Art Nouveau heritage with modern sophistication, the resort will offer a range of world-class amenities including signature restaurants and bars, flexible event spaces, and an extensive spa and wellness facility with an indoor-outdoor pool. About the job
We're looking for a driven Director of Finance is responsible for the determination of optimum control objectives and for the installation and maintenance of appropriate internal control systems over income, expenditure, assets and liabilities within the hotel.
Beyond numbers, you’ll inspire a culture of responsiveness and collaboration within your team; creating a unified approach to achieving financial and operational excellence. As Director of Finance, you will responsible for the following duties:
- To manage, supervise and support all subordinate employees, with a view to optimising the profitability of the hotel and improving the guest experience.
- To initiate employee development and evaluation programmes for all subordinate staff to ensure the highest level of professional competence and efficient continuity within those positions.
- To organise an efficient treasury function to provide proper management of the hotel’s working capital and cash flow in accordance with MOHG minimum guidelines and within the requirements of the hotel’s management contract. Also, to ensure excessive investment is not made in receivables or inventories and that sufficient liquidity is maintained to meet the hotel’s obligations.
- To ensure all financial reports, budgets, forecasts and other information required by MOHG are accurately compiled and submitted within the specified time limits, identifying variances and making recommendations for improvements as appropriate.
- To personally review forecasts and budgets prepared by hotel management to ensure the General Manager and MOHG corporate management are provided with guidelines of performance that are both reasonable and achievable.
- To ensure all legal, treasury and tax documentation is properly maintained and secured and that all statutory and fiscal reporting requirements are satisfied, which will include any governmental requirement for permits and licences.
- To continuously monitor economic, social and governmental trends and policies to ensure the General Manager and MOHG corporate management are kept fully apprised of any implications which may affect the performance of the hotel in meeting its financial objectives.
- To ensure adequate controls are installed and maintained for the protection of the hotel’s assets against loss or misappropriation.
- To ensure adequate insurance coverage is maintained to protect the assets of the hotel with particular regard to the requirements contained in the hotel’s management contract.
- Assume full responsibility for the proper control of all cash funds and other assets for subordinates.
- To establish a comprehensive credit and collection policy for the hotel, based on good industry practice and within the guidelines provided by MOHG.
- To carry out any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the General Manager or MOHG corporate management.
- Managing and overseeing internal & external audits.
- Risk Management Committee participation.
As Director of Finance we expect from you:
- Proven experience managing Finance operations in luxury hospitality environments.
- Strong knowledge of local tax laws, regulatory compliance and internal controls.
- Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Experience with hotel-specific financial systems is a strong advantage.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Sound understanding of safety, environmental, and building regulations.
- Effective problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Flexibility to handle emergencies and work varied shifts.
- Fluency in Italian and English; other languages are advantageous.
- Degree or certification in Accounting, Finance of Business Administration.
