We are looking for a Director of Spa & Wellness to join our pre-opening team at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, set to open in Spring 2025.
Surrounded by natural beauty, the Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca spreads over 3 hectares of landscaped cliff tops and gardens cascading down to the sea, where it offers unique access to two coves surrounded by crystalline waters. The property is ideally located within Calvià, one of the most exclusive municipalities of the island, and close to key attractions such as the Portals port, the historical landmarks of the capital Palma de Mallorca, and the international airport.
Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca will feature 131 guestrooms, including 44 suites and nine bungalows located just a few steps from the waterfront. The spacious accommodation will provide full or partial sea views, outdoor terraces or balconies, some of which offer private panoramic plunge pools. A comprehensive Spa at Mandarin Oriental will offer the Group’s signature wellness therapies and beauty treatments, with a focus on local nature-inspired programmes. The spa includes an indoor swimming pool, while three outdoor pools are located across the resort. Guests will also have access to a wide range of water-sports as well as a comprehensive Children’s Club.
As the Director of Spa & Wellness, you will be responsible for the overall spa and fitness staff and functions and to maintain all operating aspects of the Spa, Fitness and Retail facility.
The Director of Spa & Wellness will be responsible for the following:
- Responsible for the setting down and instigating of all policies and objectives within the spa
- Take reservations when necessary
- Deal with dissatisfied or disgruntled guests
- Responsible for motivating retail sales and ensure that all sales are recorded accurately
- To supervise and conduct the safety of users and equipment of the spa and to ensure that the Health and Safety Policy and procedures are implemented and monitored in particular with relation to cleanliness and hygiene
- Assuring that mistakes mentioned are corrected and discuss procedures that were performed correctly
- All hotels within MOHG are scored on Mystery shopper reports and it is expected that Mandarin Oriental, Macau achieves high scores
- Spa Director determines whether Spa is up to date on criteria necessary for a 5 star or 5 diamond rating
- Signoff on TCI’s completed by Legendary trainers to ensure that standards and procedures have been understood
- Pass on any learned knowledge from shows or training, thereby being an avenue for industry information
- Review that SOP’s are continuously current and correct for all spa colleagues
- Regularly done to review treatments and SOPs. Responsible for maintaining the high standard of Treatment, Service and attention to detail within the spa
- Meet with all new heads of departments and give a tour of the spa and explain the philosophy and culture of the Spa. Relate the training to their point of view. If available schedule a treatment to allow clear understanding of Spa experience and how to relate this to a guest
- Support company’s philosophy and company culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement.
- To ensure that the Fire Life Health Safety and Security company standards and HACCP Standards are maintained and carried out. They must be monitored regularly to assist in scoring 100% on the MOHG health and safety audit.
- To ensure that Mandarin Oriental, Macau’s grooming and appearance standards are implemented and maintained to reflect an image of professionalism and care.
- To carry out annual appraisals and regular feedback on development on all colleagues using the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Performance and Development System PROFILE.
- To be responsible to oversee the recruitment, induction, training development, appraisal and discipline of all spa colleagues.
- Setting achievable goals for spa colleagues, to include budget and retail goals per department, established with Spa Management Team
- Responsible for timely documentation and the discipline of the colleagues in accordance with Progressive discipline procedures outlined in Human Resource Policy & Procedure Guide
What are we looking for?
- Previous management experience in a similar role in Luxury Hotels/ Resorts environment
- Knowledge of current spa trends in the industry
- Knowledge of specific spa industry applications is desirable, such as spa soft.
- Commitment to follow all local and corporate policies and procedures as they relate to the Spa and hotel.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks
- Technical awareness and knowledge of a wide variety of Spa treatments and products.
- Knowledge of holistic concepts that relate to the wellbeing of all guests in a spa environment.
- Open to learning about treatments and concepts that derive from other cultures.
- Effective communication skills both written and spoken, in Spanish and English.
- Strong management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Maintain an ongoing Fire Life Health Safety and Security (FLHSS) program.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, etc.
