About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, within the Finance Department, the Finance Trainee supports the Income Audit function and gains exposure to financial control processes that are central to hotel operations.
This role provides hands-on experience in revenue control across all points of sale, including Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Spa.
The Finance Trainee reports to the Finance Manager / Income Auditor.

As Finance Trainee, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Gain an introduction to the Income Audit function, a central position in hotel financial control responsible for monitoring and controlling revenues across all outlets.
  • Generate the hotel’s daily revenue report, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Control Food & Beverage allocations related to entertainment and discounts applied daily across the different outlets.
  • Review Front Office and Spa adjustments to ensure compliance with internal procedures and financial controls.
  • Assist the Income Auditor in the monthly reconciliation and control of Gift Certificates and Gift Card inventories.
  • Perform weekly OpenTable audits for Food & Beverage outlets.
  • Prepare daily House Account reports and the Full Audit Summary.
  • Perform quarterly Food & Beverage price audit variance checks.
  • Prepare and support the creation of various financial and operational reports as assigned by the Finance Department.
  • Assist with stock control processes, including inventory lists and reconciliation support.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate revenue posting and smooth financial operations.

  • High sense of responsibility and integrity when handling financial data.
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with hotel systems is an asset.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
