We are now looking to appoint an Internal Controls Manager to join our Corporate Office.
Scope of Position
Reporting to the Head of Internal Controls and Compliance, this role plays a central part in both Mandarin Oriental’s Internal Control function and the Jardine Matheson Group Risk Management and Audit Team. The position is responsible for designing and evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls that mitigate financial and operational risks, while coordinating and operating the Group’s broader risk management programme.
The role requires strong analytical capability, business acumen, and the ability to engage stakeholders across corporate, regional, and hotel levels.
Major Responsibilities
Internal Audit & Controls
Lead and undertake onsite hotel internal audits and internal process reviews at corporate and regional offices in accordance with established standards and agreed procedures.
Identify and communicate financial and operational control risks, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
Support the Head of Internal Controls and Compliance in updating and refining hotel finance policies and procedures to strengthen governance and promote organisational excellence.
Enterprise Risk Management
Coordinate, operate, and enhance the Group’s Risk Management framework and programme, ensuring alignment with the Group’s integrated risk management approach.
Drive improvements to the risk framework, fostering risk awareness and best practices across the organisation.
Facilitate communication, experience sharing, and risk reporting among hotel, regional, and corporate teams.
Governance & Reporting
Assist with preparing Management and Audit Committee reporting, including materials relating to risk management, compliance, and internal control activities.
Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across Mandarin Oriental and Jardine Matheson to ensure alignment of risk and control expectations.
Role‑Specific Competencies & Experience
Degree holder in accounting, finance, or related disciplines, with a recognised professional qualification such as CPA, CIA, or equivalent.
Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience, including exposure to risk management in sizeable organisations.
At least 5 years of internal or external audit experience, preferably with a Big Four accounting firm.
Strong understanding of internal controls, audit methodologies, and risk management principles.
Prior experience in hotel finance operations is preferred.
Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Flexibility to travel or work remotely for assignments when required.
Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Mandarin).
