Mandarin Oriental, Makati is an upcoming 5-star luxury hotel set within the lush Ayala Triangle Gardens, at the prestigious corner of Paseo de Roxas and Makati Avenue. Scheduled to open in 2026, this landmark development will feature 275 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites, offering a refined blend of contemporary design and timeless sophistication. The Role
The Laundry Agent is responsible for processing guest laundry, hotel linens, uniforms, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation. This role supports the efficient operation of the laundry department, delivering high-quality results in line with Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service standards.
In a pre-opening environment, the Laundry Agent contributes to operational setup, training, and readiness to ensure seamless laundry services from opening day.
Key Responsibilities
Laundry Operations
- Perform daily laundry tasks including sorting, washing, drying, pressing, folding, and finishing
- Ensure proper handling of guest laundry, hotel linen, and staff uniforms
- Follow correct washing formulas and fabric care procedures
- Ensure timely processing and delivery of all laundry items
Guest Laundry Service
- Handle guest laundry with care, attention to detail, and confidentiality
- Check guest garments for damages or special instructions before processing
- Ensure clothes are returned clean, well-pressed, and neatly presented
- Report any discrepancies or issues to the Supervisor immediately
Linen & Uniform Processing
- Sort and process linens according to type, color, and fabric
- Ensure proper handling and finishing of bed linen, towels, and uniforms
- Identify and segregate damaged or stained items
- Support uniform and linen distribution as required
Pre-Opening Responsibilities
- Participate in training sessions, SOP briefings, and service culture programs
- Assist in setting up laundry equipment, workflow, and storage areas
- Take part in mock operations, testing, and simulation exercises
- Support organization of linen stock and operating supplies
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate laundry machines (washers, dryers, presses, ironing equipment) safely and efficiently
- Follow proper usage guidelines to avoid damage to items and equipment
- Clean and maintain equipment after use
- Report any malfunction or repair needs promptly
Quality Control
- Inspect all laundry items to ensure cleanliness and proper finishing
- Maintain high standards in pressing, folding, and presentation
- Ensure consistency in quality in line with luxury hotel standards
- Re-process items that do not meet quality expectations
Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with Supervisors and team members to meet operational targets
- Communicate effectively regarding workload, delays, or issues
- Support other laundry colleagues during peak periods
- Coordinate with Housekeeping for linen delivery requirements
Safety, Hygiene & Compliance
- Follow all health, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- Handle chemicals and detergents safely and according to guidelines
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
- Report any hazards or incidents immediately
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in laundry operations or housekeeping is an advantage (luxury hotel experience preferred)
- Basic understanding of laundry processes and fabric care
- Ability to operate laundry equipment (training can be provided)
- Physically fit and able to handle repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods
- Basic English communication skills
