About the job

Based at the Emirates palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Engineering Department, the Painter is responsible for maintaining and repairing all aspects of the hotel’s painting works in accordance with Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental standards to achieve optimum product quality. The Painter reports to the Assistant Manager - Maintenance.

As a Painter, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Providing guidance and assistance to the painting team
• Providing necessary training, arranging tools and materials for the team
• Estimate and plan the works requirements based on priority and operational needs
• Painting / Polishing of various types of furniture, wooden or gypsum panels and false ceilings
• Decorative painting / polishing wooden doors
• Repair and re-painting of HOH metal doors and frames
• Inspection and periodical maintenance of public areas
• Maintaining the gold leaf and decorative works in the lobby / guest areas
• Ensures that the supplied uniform is clean and in good repair.  Always maintain a clean and tidy appearance before entering a guestroom or public areas
• Ensures that the plant room, workshop, and related areas are kept clean and tidy
• Observers prescribed safety standards.  Helping maintain safe conditions for self and others
• Performs related duties and special projects as assigned
• Interacts with other Departments when necessary to provide additional or specialized services for functions and festivities

As a Painter, we expect from you: 

• Minimum two years of previous experience in the same role in a luxury hotel is required, resort experience is a plus
• Secondary school certificate and/or vocational training in painting & decorating
• Knowledge of various construction materials and their appropriate usage
• Knowledge of various paints and their application for specific jobs
• Skills to adapt paint mixture to match existing surface
• Knowledge of spray painting
