The Role

The R.S Order Taker / Cashier plays a vital role in ensuring seamless order processing and accurate financial transactions within the Food & Beverage operation. As a key point of contact, this role supports service efficiency and enhances the guest experience by maintaining precision, organization, and professionalism in all interactions.
In alignment with Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service standards, the role ensures accuracy in billing, order coordination, and reporting, contributing to a smooth and refined dining experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

Order Taking & Coordination

  • Accurately receive and process guest orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain control of captain orders and restaurant checks, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate closely with service and kitchen teams to support smooth order flow.

Cashiering & Financial Accuracy

  • Follow established billing procedures and ensure accuracy in all transactions.
  • Issue and manage restaurant checks with precision and clarity.
  • Receive payments (cash and other methods) and ensure proper handling at all times.
  • Balance cash registers at the end of each shift in accordance with audit standards.
  • Transmit signed checks and supporting documents to the Front Office Cashier.

Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare daily sales summaries and required reports within designated timelines.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all transactions and operational records.
  • Ensure availability and organization of outlet stationeries and materials.

Operational Support

  • Maintain an organized and clean work area at all times.
  • Monitor and ensure receipt of essential daily reports, including:
    • Arrival and departure lists
    • Cancellation updates
    • Group rooming lists
    • Credit card holder listings

Brand Standards & Quality Assurance

  • Uphold Mandarin Oriental’s service excellence standards in all guest and colleague interactions.
  • Ensure professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail in all administrative and cashiering duties.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all hotel policies, financial controls, and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and internal audit requirements.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or related field.
  • Experience in cashiering or F&B operations; luxury hotel experience is an advantage.
  • Strong numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic financial procedures.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional demeanor with a service-oriented mindset.
