About the Job 

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Geneva, the Reservations Specialist is responsible for contributing, daily, to the smooth running of the reservations department in accordance with Mandarin Oriental guidelines and standards and local practices. 

The Reservations Specialist responds to customer questions and requests regarding room availability, prices, information about the Hotel and the Mandarin Oriental Group, and records room reservations according to established procedures and following the Yield Management process. 

 

As Reservations Specialist, you will be responsible for: 

  • Respond to customer questions and requests for information, whether by telephone, fax, Internet, post or other means, and follow up on them. 

  • Respond to customer booking requests (received by the Reservations Office via the above means of communication) after checking room availability and prices. 

  • Recording customer reservations (received by the Reservations Office via the above means of communication) and confirming them in the same way or by the means chosen by the customer, within 24 hours. 

  • Coordinate all other service requests related to room reservations (taxis, flowers, restaurant reservations, etc.) with the relevant departments and confirm these arrangements with customers using the appropriate means of communication. Depending on the complexity of the request, the Reservations employee refers the customer to the relevant department. 

  • Coordinate (inform) the Sales and Group Coordination Office when it comes to room reservations made as part of a ‘Group’ quota (pick-up, etc.). 

  • Communicate information or special requests relating to reservations to Reception, Concierge, and other departments. 

  • Welcome and serve guests in accordance with the hospitality principles of a 5-star hotel, meeting the expectations of the Mandarin Oriental Group and Swiss Deluxe 

  • Handle guest complaints in accordance with the LQE procedure and refer complaints and all guest comments to management 

  • Adhere to and apply the Mandarin Oriental principles set out in ‘Our Commitments’ 

As Guest Service Specialist we expect from you: 

  • 4 to 5 years' experience as a reservations agent in a high-end establishment. 

  • Asset: knowledge of the Geneva market. 

  • Team spirit, curiosity, and a desire to learn and grow. 

  • Good communication skills and a flexible attitude. 

  • Fluency in English and French, another European language is a plus. 

  • A valid Swiss work permit or EU passport.
