About the job

Based at the San Clemente Palace within the Sales & Marketing Department in Venice, the Sales Manager MICE is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and securing group and event business within the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events segment. This role ensures revenue optimization, client satisfaction, and brand alignment by delivering tailored solutions that meet both operational capabilities and customer expectations. The Sales Manager Mice collaborates closely with key departments across the property and represents the hotel in relevant sales activities and industry events. This position reports to the Director of Commercial Strategy.

As Sales Manager MICE, you will responsible for the following duties:

  • Together with Director of Sales, agree and implement group rate strategy.
  • To effectively manage a portfolio of key accounts through planned sales activity, maximising account potential in terms of rate or room-nights in accordance with overall sales strategies.
  • To focus on the growth and continued production of existing MICE accounts both domestic and international and to develop new MICE accounts that are suitable for the pricing strategy of the groups market.
  • Responsible for the development of business from (but not exclusively) the following market segments: Incentive Agents, Ground Handlers, Conference & Banqueting Agencies, Meeting Planners, Associations, Wholesalers/ITW, Consortia, Direct Corporate Bookers
  • To research and develop revenues from other assigned geographical territories
  • To develop and maintain an accurate database of all relevant MICE producing accounts.
  • To work with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group sales offices and third party organisations (such as GP Associates) in assigned territories, to maximise sales opportunities.
  • To plan and execute overseas sales trips within assigned territories and market segments.
  • To participate in tradeshows and workshops as required.
  • To host site inspections and familiarisation trips as needed.
  • To work closely Groups Manager, Director of Revenue and Director of Events to ensure that we are seen as professional and competitive within the market.
  • To promote other Mandarin Oriental properties whenever possible and effectively distribute sales leads.
  • To ensure that all sales activities are recorded in Delphi.
  • To attend weekly departmental sales meeting.
  • To monitor sales activities of market competitors and report at sales meetings.
  • To perform any other reasonable duty as directed by your manager

As Sales Manager MICE we expect from you: 

  • Proven experience in MICE sales, preferably within the luxury hospitality or 5-star hotel sector.
  • Strong track record in business development, account management, and closing group/event sales.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of the MICE market, event planning logistics, and sales strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and client accounts simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with a proactive and client-focused approach.
  • Familiarity with hotel sales systems (e.g., Opera, Delphi, or similar CRM tools).
  • Fluency in English and Spanish; additional languages are a plus.
  • Availability to travel and represent the hotel at trade shows, roadshows, and client meetings.
  • Degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
