About the Role

 It’s sales that make our hotels, resorts and residences prosper. As the Assistant Director of Sales - Group, you will lead by example in developing and implementing the sales activities within your segment. You take pride in developing and deploying sales generation activities within your assigned market, and in guiding and supporting your colleagues as they deploy activities in their assigned markets. Your team depends on you, and your efforts are valued and important to the success of the business. 

The Assistant Director of Sales – Group (ADOS – Group) is a key member of the pre‑opening Commercial Team, responsible for establishing and growing the group segment for Mandarin Oriental Makati. This role develops and leads the hotel’s group sales strategy—capturing corporate, association, leisure, and event‑related group business to support a successful opening and long-term commercial performance.

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Strategy, the ADOS – Group will collaborate closely with Revenue Management, Marketing, Events, and Operations to ensure the seamless execution of group bookings and the delivery of Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service experience. This is a strategic, relationship‑driven role that contributes significantly to the hotel’s market positioning and commercial success.

 

Your Responsibilities

You will lead sales activities within your assigned market while guiding and supporting the colleagues who report to you. You are entrusted with achieving departmental sales goals through thoughtful planning, strong leadership, and a deep commitment to Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service standards.

You will do this by:

  • Cultivating and strengthening relationships with existing and new clients to grow business, shift market share, and elevate the visibility of the property and the Mandarin Oriental brand.
  • Serving as the subject matter expert and thought leader for your market or segment.
  • Analyzing account performance, monitoring production, and implementing targeted sales action plans aligned with the annual marketing plan.
  • Planning, coordinating, and participating in sales calls, familiarization trips, site inspections, and hosted client experiences.
  • Creating and executing short‑ and long‑term commercial strategies to meet sales targets and strengthen the hotel’s market position.
  • Demonstrating active listening to understand each client’s expressed and unexpressed business objectives.
  • Effectively communicating the hotel’s features, benefits, and unique value propositions to meet client needs.
  • Representing the hotel at trade shows, exhibitions, and key industry events.
  • Contributing insights and recommendations to the annual marketing plan.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely data entry within all sales systems to maintain high levels of data integrity and reporting accuracy.
  • Managing lead status, advancing opportunities, and ensuring proactive follow‑up.
  • Effectively using social media and digital platforms to identify new opportunities and engage existing clients.
  • Creating engaging, story‑driven presentations that highlight the property’s offerings and experiences.
  • Ensuring all sales activities are properly documented and aligned with established standard operating practices.

  • Engaging with colleagues across other Mandarin Oriental properties to share client insights and best practices.

  • Preparing and presenting accurate sales reports that detail pace, production, and market conditions.


What We’re Looking For

Specific Job Qualifications, Knowledge & Abilities

You will bring the following experience, skills, and qualities:

  • Minimum 5 years of hotel sales experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven team leadership and the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide others.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills with a track record of achieving commercial targets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Superior organizational, time‑management, and follow‑through abilities.
  • Ability to maintain and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capability in identifying and attracting new business opportunities.
  • Professional presentation and the ability to represent the hotel in alignment with brand standards.
  • Strong relationship‑building abilities and a client‑centric mindset.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce/Delphi and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to represent the hotel and Mandarin Oriental brand with professionalism, poise, and brand alignment.
  • Proven skill in relationship management, fostering long‑term partnerships built on trust and service excellence.
  • Proficiency with essential sales and productivity systems, including Salesforce/Delphi and the Microsoft Office Suite.
