About the Job 

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Geneva, within the Banquet Department, the Assistant Maître d’Hôtel is responsible for banquet service operations.

In this role, he or she assists the Banquet Operations Manager on the floor.

As Assistant Maître d’Hôtel, you will be responsible for: 

• Verify that setup work complies with the event’s specifications
• Greet guests with a smile and manage the coat check
• Recruit temporary staff based on staffing needs and ensure they are properly supervised for each event
• Verify the menus (spelling, descriptions, dates, wines, etc.)
• Monitor and oversee service before and throughout the duration of the banquet
• Be familiar with the products being servedServe guests in accordance with the hospitality standards of a 5-star hotel, while meeting the expectations of the Mandarin Oriental Group and Swiss Deluxe
• Handle guest complaints according to the LQE procedure and refer complaints, as well as all guest feedback, to management.

As Assistant Maître d’Hôtel we expect from you: 

• A passion for service and attention to detail. 
• Previous service experience in a luxury hotel or fine dining environment preferred. 
• Team spirit, curiosity, and a desire to learn and grow. 
• Good communication skills and a flexible attitude. 
• Fluency in English and French, another European language is a plus. 
• A valid Swiss work permit or EU passport.
