About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern, within the F&B department, the Bartender / Barista is responsible for ensuring smooth operations behind the bar, giving guest recommendations and supporting the F&B team with preparing hot and cold beverages. The Bartender / Barista reports to the Restaurant Manager.

As Bartender / Barista, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Have a good understanding of the outlet’s concept, the food and beverage offerings and be able to verbally explain those to the guests
• Knowledge of mixing and matching ingredients to offer an outstanding selection of creative cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks, coffee, tea, spirits, beers and wines and be able to garnish all drinks as per the given standards and explain their characteristics.
• Operate coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment efficiently
• Craft a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, including lattes, cappuccinos, and specialty beverages
• Follow recipes and presentation standards for all beverages
• Keep the coffee and bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked
• Set up daily bar counter and bar area to ensure that mise en place and any other required ingredients and equipment are prepared to work as efficient as possible.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks and ensure all equipment is properly maintained
• Assure that all beverages, such as wines or juices are fresh and in good order to be served

As Bartender / Barista, we expect from you:

• Completed vocational training in the upscale hotel or catering industry, ideally 2-3 years of professional experience in a similar position   
• Expressiveness, open-mindedness and team spirit  
• Written and verbal communication skills - guests will come to you with both complaints and positive feedback   
• High quality awareness and a sense for trends  
• Good IT skills, knowledge of the Infrasys cash register system and the SevenRooms booking system would be an advantage   
• Excellent manners and well-groomed appearance, as well as a positive charisma  
• Resilience and flexibility - your position will include night, weekend and holiday shifts  
• Very good knowledge of German and English. Additional foreign language skills are an advantage

Als Bartender / Baristsa sind Sie für die folgenden Aufgaben verantwortlich:

• ein gutes Verständnis des Konzepts und des Speisen- und Getränkeangebots der Verkaufsstelle haben und in der Lage sein, diese den Gästen mündlich zu erklären
• Kenntnisse im Mischen und Abstimmen von Zutaten, um eine herausragende Auswahl an kreativen Cocktails, alkoholfreien Getränken, Kaffee, Tee, Spirituosen, Bieren und Weinen anbieten zu können, sowie die Fähigkeit, alle Getränke gemäß den vorgegebenen Standards zu garnieren und ihre Eigenschaften zu erklären.
• Kaffeemaschinen, Mühlen und andere Geräte effizient zu bedienen
• Herstellung einer Vielzahl von Kaffee- und Espressogetränken, einschließlich Lattes, Cappuccinos und Spezialgetränken
• Befolgen von Rezepten und Präsentationsstandards für alle Getränke
• Halten Sie den Kaffee- und Barbereich sauber, organisiert und gut bestückt
• Richten Sie täglich den Bartresen und den Barbereich ein, um sicherzustellen, dass die Mise en Place und alle anderen erforderlichen Zutaten und Geräte so vorbereitet sind, dass sie so effizient wie möglich arbeiten.
• Tägliche Reinigungsarbeiten durchführen und sicherstellen, dass alle Geräte ordnungsgemäß gewartet sind
• sicherstellen, dass alle Getränke, wie z. B. Weine oder Säfte, frisch und in einwandfreiem Zustand sind und serviert werden können

Als Bartender / Barista erwarten wir von Ihnen:

• Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung in der gehobenen Hotellerie oder Gastronomie, idealerweise 2-3 Jahre Berufserfahrung in einer vergleichbaren Position 
• Ausdrucksfähigkeit, Aufgeschlossenheit und Teamgeist 
• Schriftliche und mündliche Kommunikationsfähigkeit - die Gäste kommen sowohl mit Beschwerden als auch mit positivem Feedback zu Ihnen  
• Hohes Qualitätsbewusstsein und ein Gespür für Trends 
• Gute IT-Kenntnisse, Kenntnisse des Infrasys-Kassensystems und des SevenRooms-Buchungssystems sind von Vorteil 
• Ausgezeichnete Umgangsformen und ein gepflegtes Erscheinungsbild sowie eine positive Ausstrahlung 
• Belastbarkeit und Flexibilität - Ihre Tätigkeit umfasst auch Nacht-, Wochenend- und Feiertagsschichten 
• Sehr gute Kenntnisse der deutschen und englischen Sprache. Weitere Fremdsprachenkenntnisse sind von Vorteil
