CHIEF ENGINEER
Position Summary
The Chief Engineer supports the Engineering Manager in ensuring the effective, safe, and smooth operation of the Engineering department. This role serves as a key point of coordination for day-to-day maintenance operations, staff supervision, and compliance with safety standards. The Chief Engineer acts as second-in-command, stepping in during the Manager’s absence and serving as a reference point for the team of Engineering Supervisors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Engineering Manager in overseeing all operations of the Engineering department
Supervise and support Engineering Supervisors and technicians in daily tasks and preventive maintenance plans
Coordinate technical interventions across all areas of the resort, ensuring quality and timeliness
Collaborate in budget monitoring and cost control, particularly for maintenance operations and energy consumption
Liaise with external contractors and consultants during maintenance projects and upgrades
Monitor compliance with health, safety, and fire prevention regulations, supporting internal audits and corrective actions
Maintain up-to-date documentation on systems, procedures, and equipment maintenance
Lead or assist in training, evaluating, and motivating the engineering team to ensure high performance and professional development
Implement MOHG standards and policies across all maintenance activities
Participate in the planning and scheduling of maintenance interventions in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house
Provide regular updates to the Engineering Manager on technical issues, resource needs, and ongoing projects
Contribute to long-term improvement plans for energy saving and sustainable facility management
Requirements
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory or mid-level engineering role, ideally within a luxury hospitality setting
Degree or diploma in Engineering, Technical Services, or a related field
Strong technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and civil systems
Working knowledge of Health & Safety and Fire Prevention regulations
Good understanding of budget control and energy-saving practices
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Proficient in written and spoken English and Italian
Leadership-oriented mindset with a collaborative, hands-on approach
Flexible, reliable, and capable of managing stress and priorities
