The Role

The Commis Chef is an integral part of the culinary team, supporting senior chefs in preparing and presenting dishes to the highest standards. This role offers a valuable opportunity to develop skills in a luxury hotel environment while contributing to the exciting pre-opening journey of Mandarin Oriental Makati.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes under the guidance of senior chefs
  • Maintain mise en place and ensure readiness for service
  • Follow recipes and instructions to deliver consistent quality
  • Uphold hygiene, safety, and sustainability practices at all times
  • Support stock rotation and inventory management within your section
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Contribute to the pre-opening process by assisting with kitchen setup, equipment checks, and operational readiness

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef or culinary trainee in a hotel or fine dining environment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations
  • Passion for food and a strong desire to learn and grow
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
  • Commitment to high standards of hygiene, safety, and food quality
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic pre-opening environment
