Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is an exclusive 5-star hotel located on Barcelona's Paseo de Gracia, also home to several historic modernist works and architectural gems by Gaudi.

The hotel belongs to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group which is an international hotel management group with more than 38 luxury hotels, resorts and residences with a worldwide presence in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Mandarin Oriental Barcelona Hotel has 120 rooms, 28 of which are suites. All of our exquisite rooms and suites are uniquely decorated by Patricia Urquiola.

In addition to accommodation, the hotel has rooms that we rent for all kinds of events, such as weddings, meetings, business meetings...

Regarding the hotel's gastronomy, we have a 2 Michelin star restaurant, a wonderful cocktail bar, indoor garden Mimosa and the pool terrace where you can enjoy light dinners or spectacular views.

The hotel Spa consists of 8 treatment rooms, both facial and body, indoor pool and gym.

We are currently looking for new talent to join the F&B department as Waiter/tress.

 

What will be the main functions you will perform in your position?

 

Major  Responsibilities

To perform assigned duties, by proactive, interactive and reactive leadership, allowing each member of the team to feel confident and to completely satisfy our guests       during their meal experience.                        

Equipment Used

            Infasys System, Microsoft programmes, telephone, Reservations Diaries,      cash  floats, chinaware, silverware, glassware, coffee & expresses machines,    bottle openers and toast machine.

 

Daily Duties

  • To ensure that relevant grooming standards adhered to, reflecting a professional image for our guests 
  • To communicate with kitchen and sommelier for specials
  • To take guest food and beverages requirements
  • To offer aperitif
  • To recommend food
  • To attend pre-service briefings for daily updates, ensuring tasks are followed up efficiently prior to guest’s arrival
  • To meet, greet and seat guests in a professional and efficient manner
  • To ensure that mise en place levels are maintained accurately
  • To ensure that tables are appropriately cleared and re-set according to reservation plans
  • To co-ordinate the service of food and beverages together with Manager and Sommelier efficiently and accurately
  • To prepare and present bills accurately
  • To respond proactively to guest queries, ensuring that appropriate action is taken in the absence of the manager/assistant, followed by effective communication
  • To report and follow up all maintenance defaults affecting efficient and professional delivery of service                       
  • To wish “farewell” to all guests, ensuring guest satisfaction has been reached
  • To perform all duties related to restaurant closing shifts

 

Periodic Duties

  • To performs the weekly ordering of stationary and to ensure accurate delivery
  • To ensure that weekly polishing of silverware is carried out and that appropriate maintenance is done

 

Occasional Duties

  • To present the menu
  • To carry out any other reasonable requests as directed by your manager

 

Health and Safety

  1. To be aware of, and comply with, safe working practises as laid down under the Health and Safety and Company H & S Manual, as applicable to your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your work place
  2. To be aware of, and comply with Food Acts.
  3. To wear any appropriate protective clothing provided by or recommended by the Hotel.
  4. To report any defects in the building, plant or equipment according to the Hotel procedures.
  5. To ensure any accidents to colleagues, guests or visitors are reported in accordance with Hotel procedures.
  6. To attend 6 monthly statutory fire training and to be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning, fire, health & safety.
  7. To attend any training deemed appropriate by your Head of Department.
