About the job

Under the supervision of the EHS manager, the Food Safety Officer is responsible for the verified impact and potential hazards as per company food and health safety standards and outdoor activities related to Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental.

As a Food Safety Officer, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Conducts regular inspections to all food production, preparation, and serving areas within the premises and ensures compliance with Food Safety and EHS national and international standards.
• Ensure that the food safety management system is implemented and maintained in accordance to ISO 22000:2018.  
• Monitor / identify relevant changes in EHS / HACCP local regulations and laws and update the internal procedures accordingly.
• Evaluate potential hazards in food production processes and implement risk management plans. 
• Conducts regular supplier audits to ensure food items specifications are met
• Responds to incidents, investigate root cause, and recommend preventive actions
• Trains and educates food handlers on HACCP, proper hygiene practices, safe food handling, and health safety procedures
• Supports internal and external audits and follow up on corrective actions
• Maintains all documents related to Food Safety such as policies, procedures, inspections, logs, and reports
• Effectively communicates and coordinates with other departments regarding food safety and EHS matter.
• Assists EHS department in implementing and monitoring of Safety and Sustainability aspects.

• Supports in any other duties which may be assigned to you from time to time as directed by your manager.

As Food Safety Officer, we expect from you: 

• Bachelor Degree in Food technology or Food Safety.
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Food Safety and Health Safety in large scale catering or food industry preferably within the UAE
• Certified in Food Safety Level 4
• Experienced in dealing with VIP functions and delegations
• Familiar with Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority Standards
• Excellent communicator in written and spoken English
• Ability to deliver training
• Computer Literate; good knowledge in using Microsoft Office Application such as MS word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
• Basic Knowledge on Sustainable Products
