About the Role
As General Housekeeper at Mandarin Oriental Paris, you will continuously monitor and manage housekeeping operations in collaboration with the team to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout all hotel areas, while safeguarding the hotel’s assets. Prepare budgets and forecast housekeeping-related costs and expenses in the most efficient manner, in line with the hotel’s overall objectives. Review and control all outsourced contracts, including public areas and laundry services. Oversee and manage all housekeeping operations to achieve and exceed guest satisfaction levels and other key performance indicators. Motivate and train Housekeeping and florist colleagues to ensure the smooth operation and efficiency of the housekeeping department. Meet and exceed guest expectations in accordance with Mandarin Oriental standards.
As General Housekeeper, you will be responsible for the following duties:
• Oversee and manage the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring consistent luxury standards throughout the hotel.
• Lead, supervise, and support all housekeeping teams, including supervisors, room attendants, and public area staff.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure compliance with hotel standards.
• Develop, implement, and monitor housekeeping procedures, standards, and quality controls.
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop housekeeping staff to maintain high performance and professionalism.
• Prepare staff schedules and manage workforce planning according to occupancy and operational needs.
• Control and manage departmental budgets, expenses, and inventory, including linens, uniforms, and cleaning supplies.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and hotel policies and procedures.
• Handle guest feedback, requests, and complaints related to housekeeping in a professional and timely manner.
• Work closely with other departments (Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, and Food & Beverage) to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.
As General Housekeeper, We Expect From You:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in housekeeping management, including a leadership role in a luxury hotel or high-end hospitality environment.
• Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop large teams.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to luxury service standards.
• Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in French and English (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining professionalism and excellence.
