Order Taker Room-Service

The Order Taker's mission will be to contribute, day after day, to the smooth running of his/her department in accordance with Mandarin Oriental guidelines and standards and local practices. The Order Taker is responsible for taking orders from Room Service customers in accordance with Mandarin Oriental standards and is responsible for the accurate and complete billing of food and beverages ordered by customers.The Order Taker anticipates customer needs and responds to their expectations with attentive, personalised, friendly and careful service.

The Order Taker's main tasks are:

  • Preparing the station (setting up) in accordance with established standards so as to be ready to welcome customers.
  • Take charge of a customer order, from taking the order by telephone, to greeting the customer on leaving the room, to serving food and drinks in the room and invoicing, in accordance with Mandarin Oriental service procedures and standards.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Follow up throughout the stay with the various hotel departments (kitchen, reception, housekeeping, etc.)
  • Serve guests in accordance with the hospitality principles of a 5-star hotel, respecting the expectations of the Mandarin Oriental Group and Swiss Deluxe
  • To deal with customer complaints in accordance with the LQE procedure and to refer complaints and all customer observations to management.
  • Adhere to and apply the respective Mandarin Oriental principles to ‘Our Commitments’.

The Order Taker must optimise room service sales. To do this, he/she must have precise knowledge of and be able to describe the menus, dishes and drinks, as well as the preparations and cooking times.

Job Requirements:

  • BEP/CAP in catering
  • French and English are essential
  • Excellent presentation
  • Inborn sense of welcome, natural smile
  • Sociable and enjoy contact with customers
  • At least 2 years' room service experience in a similar establishment
