Painter is mainly responsible for any painting and other related works for the maintenance of hotel structure’s interior, exterior and other surfaces for practical and aesthetic benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary
  • Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.
  • Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint, minor drywall, wood trim repair, complete and thorough cleanup etc.
  • Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g. plaster)
  • Mix and match paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture
  • Paint, apply varnish and other finishes on various surfaces
  • Order appropriate material/s from the store
  • Take and adhere to all health and safety precautions
  • Carry out the maintenance of equipment
  • Order and replace the correct spares of equipment as needed
  • Perform scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) works in hotel rooms, and/or public areas as required (e.g. inspections, upholstery, touch-up painting, replacing light fixtures, repairing, grouting etc.)
  • Maintain, repair and clean all guest rooms in accordance with the property PPM procedures and standard guidelines
  • Perform miscellaneous minor repairs such as tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs, and patching holes in walls etc.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a painter
  • Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them
  • Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques
  • Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns etc.)
  • Good basic math skills
  • Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders etc.
  • Conscientious with great attention to detail
  • High school diploma; successful completion of an apprenticeship
