About the job 

Based at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, as the Pastry Help Cook you will support pastry chefs by preparing ingredients, baking desserts, and assisting with decoration and plating. They maintain a clean workstation, follow recipes, help manage inventory, and ensure food safety standards are met. 

As Pastry Help Cook , you will be responsible for the following duties:  

  • Ingredient Preparation: Measure, mix and prepare ingredients for baking. 

  • Baking and Cooking: Assist in baking pastries, cakes and other desserts. 

  • Decoration: Decorate cakes and pastries according to specifications. 

  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep workstations clean and organized and maintain baking equipment.  

  • Inventory Management: Check stock levels and assist in ordering supplies. 

  • Following Recipes: Accurately follow recipes and instructions from the pastry chef.  

As Pastry Help Cook, we expect from you:  

Experience and education 

  • High school culinary diploma or equivalent  

Technical Skills 

  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and food handling. 

  • Ability to execute and maintain consistency in the daily menu, ensuring all dishes meet high-quality standards. 

  • Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices to ensure a clean and safe working environment. 

  • Experience managing inventory, controlling stock levels, and minimizing food waste. 

  • Capability to monitor the quality of food production and ensure all dishes are prepared according to set standards. 

  • Excellent time management skills to efficiently handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines during peak service hours. 

  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen staff and other departments.
