With more than 350 colleagues, we are seeking Assistant Director of Finance.

 

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is the award-winning owner and operator of some of the world’s most prestigious hotels and resorts.  The Group now operates or has under development 41 hotels with more than 11,000 rooms in 25 countries in key business and leisure destinations. 

 

The Hotel  

Renowned Parisian designers Gilles & Boissier, have created a sophisticated residential design for the 100 rooms and 53 suites, including several one-of-a-kind specialty suites, featuring unique design elements inspired by the hotel’s historic connections to the city, Spanish culture and art. 

 

With a stunning and meticulous restoration that celebrates César Ritz’s pioneering spirit, a prestigious central location, five restaurants and bars overseen by one of Spain’s most celebrated chefs and exceptional leisure and wellness facilities, Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid is set to become the city’s most luxurious hotel. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Ensures local legislation and procedures are followed.
  • Supervises Management Accounts, ensuring they are completed on time and are produced accurately.
  • Supporting department heads of other divisions with making accurate decisions on financial matters.
  • Preparation of Statutory Accounts and directly liaise with external auditors, overseeing all related information and communication.
  • Preparation of the Hotel Business Plan, Hotel Valuation and Deferred Tax Recoverability Analysis.
  • Responsible for the month-end financial reporting.
  • Assisting the Director of Finance in the implementation of cost containment measures to mitigate EBITDA shortfalls and maintain flow-through.
  • Performs regular analytical reviews of Financial Statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) providing Management insight to deviations from Budget and Forecast where applicable.
  • Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing and interpreting data for all financial reporting entities.
  • Reconciles consolidated information and owners reporting.
  • Reconciliation of all financial statements under IFRS to Local GAAP and vice versa.
  • Ensures maintenance of accurate accounts records of all legal entities associated with Hotel Ritz Madrid.
  • Liaises with Fiscal Consultants in the filing and preparation of the Transfer Pricing local documentation.
  • Liaises with JV partners, lawyers and fiscal advisors in the reverse merger of Maldonado into Ritz.
  • Preparation of all Financial Covenants reporting in compliance with the requirements established in the Hotel Facilities agreement.
  • Reconciles all month end payroll accounts.
  • Prepares month to month variable payroll comparison for all employees and comments on discrepancies prior to committing payroll.
  • Reviews for approval or denial of all credit applications.
  • Assists other Department Heads in the yearly budget and monthly forecasting process.
  • Assisting the Director of Finance with forecasting and budgeting.
  • Assisting the Director of Finance in any requested controller task.
  • Performs checks on operations integrity and controls, ensuring internal controls are in place.
  • Overseas all financial tasks and team performance and development.

 

 

Requirements 

 

  • Five-years’ experience management, organizational and leading work teams.
  • Performance reviews above expectations.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Prioritization skills necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent management in resources and expenses control.
  • Ability to handle high volume with attention to detail.
  • An ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with hotel staff and clients/vendor.
  • Applies a professional, confidential and ethical approach at all times.
  • Ability to assemble, analyze, understand integrated spread sheets and complex technical information.
  • Knowledge of Moreton Bay, Vision (Infor Query & Analysis), Smartview, SunSystem and Datavision.
  • Knowledge of local regulations, local GAAP and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
  • Spanish is required and fluency in English.
