Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is an exclusive 5-star hotel located on Barcelona's Paseo de Gracia, also home to several historic modernist works and architectural gems by Gaudi.

The hotel belongs to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group which is an international hotel management group with more than 38 luxury hotels, resorts and residences with a worldwide presence in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Mandarin Oriental Barcelona Hotel has 120 rooms, 28 of which are suites. All of our exquisite rooms and suites are uniquely decorated by Patricia Urquiola.

In addition to accommodation, the hotel has rooms that we rent for all kinds of events, such as weddings, meetings, business meetings...

Regarding the hotel's gastronomy, we have a 2 Michelin star restaurant, a wonderful cocktail bar, indoor garden Mimosa and the pool terrace where you can enjoy light dinners or spectacular views.

The hotel Spa consists of 8 treatment rooms, both facial and body, indoor pool and gym.

We are currently looking for new talent to join the F&B department as F&B Director.

 

What will be the main functions you will perform in your position?

 
  • To supervise the function of all Food & Beverage employees, facilities, sales and costs to ensure maximum departmental profit is achieved.
  • To control and analyse, on an on-going basis, in order to optimise the following:
    • Quality levels of product and service
    • Guest levels of product and service
    • Guest satisfaction
    • Merchandising and marketing
    • Operating costs
    • Hygiene and cleanliness

 

  • To coordinate and supervise the preparation, presentation and service of food and beverage products to ensure highest quality at all times.
  • To establish and maintain effective employee relations.
  • To conduct such functions as interviewing, hiring, employee orientation, performance appraisal, coaching, counselling and dismissal if necessary to ensure appropriate staffing and productivity. To consult with General Manager and Director of Human Resources as appropriate in performing above duties.
  • To develop and implement formal training plans for Food & Beverage personnel.

 

 

 

 

  • To supervise and coordinate pricing and preparation of menus, beverage and wine lists by taking into consideration such factors as:
    • Local requirements
    • Market needs
    • Competition
    • Trends
    • Recipes
    • Potential costs
    • Availability of food and beverage products
    • Merchandising and promotions

 

  • To coordinate with the Materials Manager to determine the minimum and maximum food and beverage par stocks. To approve all wine purchases and other food and beverage items in accordance with hotel procedures.
  • To conduct weekly Food & Beverage meetings relating to; but not limited to following:
    • Overall Food and Beverage financial results and profitability
    • Projected business
    • Operations results and problems
    • Changes in procedures
    • New management policies
    • Quality improvement
    • Sales improvement
    • Productivity improvement
    • To attend all other meeting as required by the administrative calendar

 

  • To keep an up-to-date standard recipe file for all food and beverage items to include:
    • Sales history
    • Sales mix
    • Actual costs
    • Potential costs
    • Par stock
    • Production time

 

  • To implement a daily, weekly and monthly checklist for all Food and Beverage departments. To ensure a proper follow-up to attain maximum quality and efficiency.
  • To participate in preparation of the hotel’s strategic plan. To prepare the Food & Beverage Department’s budget.
  • To keep up to date with trends, systems, practices and equipment in food and beverage preparation and service in the hotel and restaurant field through trade literature and visits.
