About the job

The Barista provides the highest level of service and professional excellence, being ever present in the operation ensuring the highest standards. Builds and maintains inter departmental cooperation and drive the financial and reputational success of the business.

As Barista you will responsible for the following duties:

  • Performs kind and generous service in always treating both guests and colleagues in a respectful manner.
  • Attends pre-service briefings for daily updates, ensuring active and regular communication within the team and that all tasks are followed up efficiently prior to guest’s arrival.
  • Ensures that the opening and closing of the coffee station is organized. This includes making sure that there is always adequate mise en place, setting up the coffee station and surrounding seating areas before the guest’s arrival and performing all duties related to the closing of the coffee station.
  • Follows the set standards and patterns of the beverage and coffee servings.
  • Has excellent knowledge of all food and beverage items served within the hotel.
  • Prepares and serves all beverages to guests according to required standards in an efficient and friendly manner ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Ensures that all steps throughout the sequence of service are thoroughly followed and should there be any gaps or delay, asks for help in a timely manner, so that the guest experience is not negatively impacted.
  • Understands and operates the POS system.
  • Prepares and presents bills accurately.
  • Handles all duties relating to ordering, requisitions and return of unusable beverages, maintaining sufficient stock levels and MEP.
  • Organizes the coffee station and all related paperwork in an efficient manner to ensure successful monthly stock takes.
  • Ensures the appropriate presentation and cleanliness of the bar.
  • Attends all internal and hotel meetings required according to meetings schedule.
  • Ensures service and Back of House areas are always kept clean and work is conducted according to the Mandarin Oriental standards of FLHSS.
  • Reports and follows up all maintenance defaults to ensure efficient and professional delivery of service. 

As Barista we expect from you: 

  • To be willing to work a flexible schedule to accomplish responsibilities and tasks.
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in a similar capacity, in a luxury hotel / restaurant / bar operation.
  • Must be a self-motivator and spread positivity within the team.
  • Must work in a safe, prudent, and organized manner.
  • Must be able to relate to all levels of Guests and management.
  • Can handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Be able to consistently delight and satisfy our Guest.
  • Very good communication skills are essential.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Local and international food and beverage awareness is a plus.
  • Very good command of spoken English & Italian.
