About the job 

Based at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong within Public Relations in Hong Kong, the Director of Marketing Communications is responsible for overseeing all hotel matters relating to public and media relations whilst promoting the image of the hotel through positive publicity and appropriate awareness campaigns. The Director of Marketing Communications reports to the Director of Commercial Strategy. 

As Director of Marketing Communications, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assist with developing an overall, annual Strategic marketing Communications Plan

  • Develop and lead the execution of PR and Marketing Communications Strategy

  • Produce relevant monthly and annual reports

  • Foster positive relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers; this involves establishing and maintaining regular contact with key media representatives, pitching stories and press releases, and coordinating interviews and media coverage

  • Ensure that all communication materials, including press releases, media kits, speeches, and other content, are aligned with the hotel's brand standards and effectively convey the intended message to the audience.

  • Develop, translate, and adapt marketing communications materials and content strategy for the market

  • Drive regular exposure in across media channels

  • Assist with meeting and greeting services of press, celebrity visits and VIP events

  • Manage internal hotel journalist shoots and co-ordinate required behind the scenes requirements

  • Handle and supervise external photographic or film crews while working on site

  • Liaise with Public Relations consulting firms and MOHG Corporate Communications Department

  • Development of partnership strategy and provide ongoing reporting and analysis of partnerships activities

  • Create and execute annual promotion calendar, incorporating key events, holidays, and cultural moments relevant to the Chinese market, to drive brand awareness and sales growth.

  • Explore opportunities to leverage social commerce platforms, collaborate with influencers, and implement social commerce strategies to drive sales and engagement

  • Act as hotel spokesperson and take responsibility for handling the crisis communications component of crisis management in the absence of the Director of Marketing Communications

As Director of Marketing Communications, we expect from you:

  • Degree holder in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality Management or relevant discipline

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience and at least 2 years in managerial level or of similar capacity, preferably in luxury hotel

  • Excellent written and spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua

  • Good business acumen with analytical mind in developing and implementing communication strategies

  • Strong background in brand positioning, storytelling, and developing partnerships

  • Experienced with digital content, social media, and CRM strategies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of colleagues and guests
