DIRECTOR OF ROOMS

About the job


Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur / within the Rooms Department in Kuala Lumpur, the Director of Rooms directs day to day operations of rooms division which include Housekeeping, Front Office including Club Floor, Concierge in an optimum and efficient manner as to achieve the hotel overall goals and objectives. This position provides direction and leadership including maximizing revenue opportunities and guest satisfaction levels to the standards set by the Group. The Director of Rooms reports to the Hotel Manager.

As Director of Rooms, you will be responsible for the following duties: 


•    Create and strategize duties and responsibilities of all sections and ensure that work processes are in a logical order
•    Responsible for the proper, efficient and profitable functioning of the Front Office which includes Reception, Cashiering and Enquiries
•    Maximize room revenue and occupancy by effectively controlling rates and availability.
•    Ensure the Legendary Quality Experience, policies and rules are properly understood and followed through
•    Handle all guest complaints and comments tactfully
•    Ensure effective communication via daily briefing, weekly update and monthly brainstorming within the department

As Director of Rooms, we expect from you: 


•    Minimum 5 years working experience as Director of Rooms within the luxury hotel industry 
•    Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or Hotel Management
•    Previous experience is essential in similar department or capacity
•    Excellent organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills
•    Excellent verbal, written and non-verbal communications skills
