Mandarin Oriental, Hangzhou is a forthcoming five-star luxury hotel set within the prestigious Westlake 66 mixed-use development, near the UNESCO-listed West Lake. Scheduled to open in 2026, the hotel will feature 194 elegantly designed guestrooms and suites, complemented by four restaurants and bars, extensive meeting and event spaces, and world-class wellness facilities including a signature spa, fitness centre, and indoor pool. Blending contemporary sophistication with cultural heritage, the hotel is designed as a serene retreat in one of China’s most vibrant cities, offering seamless access to Hangzhou’s key business districts and leisure attractions.

As L&D Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • maximize learning and development by providing a creative, fun and exciting environment in the delivery of training session
  • To devise and implement and annual L&D strategy in accordance with the hotels business objective
  • To identify, establish and monitor operational, supervisory and managerial Learning and Development needs and requirements, and provide feedback on a monthly basis to the Head of People & Culture and General Manager
  • To support the activities of departmental managers and trainers, and to ensure that all Learning & Development activities are geared towards the achievement of the hotel strategic objective
  • To produce a monthly Learning & Development report
  • To be responsible for the recording of all Learning and Development activities on the relevant databases
  • Organise and executive Move In Orientation Day for new colleagues
  • To monitor, support and coach the completion of Performance Reviews

 

As L&D Manager, we expect from you:

  • Luxury Hotel Experience: Proven track record in a luxury hotel environment in an L&D or training leadership role.
  • Native Chinese Speaking: Native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (verbal and written) with the ability to deliver training programs, create training materials, and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels in Chinese.
  • Hotel Opening Experience: Demonstrated success in pre-opening L&D setup, including developing the training framework, creating onboarding programs, delivering pre-opening service culture training, establishing the Learning Management System (LMS), and training department-level trainers.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS), Microsoft Office, and e-learning authoring tools.
