About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen within the Food & Beverage Division in Shenzhen, the OPUS 388 Kitchen Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the Chef De Cuisine in running the assigned kitchen efficiently and effectively. He/she is to ensure that the agreed quality, hygiene and other standards are kept or surpassed at all times. The OPUS 388 Kitchen Sous Chef reports to the OPUS 388 Kitchen Chef De Cuisine.

As OPUS 388 Kitchen Sous Chef, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assist Chef De Cuisine with the production and quality control of all foods prepared in his/her respective area section.
  • Works closely with Chef De Cuisine in planning adequate supply of required items for restaurants, menu development and other related areas.
  • Assists Chef De Cuisine in creating and developing new dishes and recipes by keeping up with the latest market trends. Propose and initiate new ideas, services and products.
  • Handle guest’s comments and complaints and take swift corrective action after consultation with Chef De Cuisine
  • To be aware of and comply with safe working practices as stipulated in FLHSS. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your workplace

As OPUS 388 Kitchen Sous Chef, we expect from you: 

  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant working experience in similar capacity
  • A great team player with good communication skills
  • Attention to details, well-organized and responsible
  • Good command of both spoken and written English
