An ideal candidate must have a relevant degree or diploma, valid REP's UAE registration with a Category 'A' fitness license, preferred specialization in a fitness discipline, and at least 1 year of experience in a commercial fitness or sports coaching environment.
Responsibilities
- Support company’s philosophy and company culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement.

- Keep work areas clean and neat at all times.
- Must follow all Standards and Procedures as taught by legendary trainers, Departmental trainers and Fitness & Wellness Manager.
- Conduct Fitness Assessments, Classes and Personal Training.
- To supervise and instruct the safe use of the equipment in the Fitness area.
- To ensure that a high standard of service is maintained throughout the Fitness Centre.
- Assist in the operations of all Fitness Centre, as required:
-Reception
-Fitness Centre (main gym)
-Fitness Centre (movement studio)
-Personal training session delivery
-MO in-house class delivery
-Unique events and Hotel marketing initiatives
-Cleaning, maintenance and Health & Safety reporting
- Report dysfunctional equipment to Fitness & Wellness Supervisor/Manager
- To maintain inventory of supplies for the operations of the Fitness Centre (Headsets, fruit/water, towels etc.)
- To attend daily line-ups, weekly and monthly departmental meetings.
- To maintain a high standard of appearance and personal hygiene as laid down by the Mandarin Oriental MODUB Grooming Guidelines
- Must attend all training courses as deemed necessary, and must adhere to training as set down by the Fitness & Wellness Manager
- Must have the ability to courteously interact and answer all Spa, Wellness and Hotel related questions with guests.
- Assist in all areas of the department, as and when necessary.
- To be adaptable and accountable for all actions.
- Will perform as a professional, with a friendly work ethic and conduct all duties and responsibilities as required by the position, or assigned by the Fitness & Wellness Supervisor/Manager.
- To assist in the smooth flow of the guest’s journey throughout the day.
- To receive training to ensure that all-relevant Health and Hygiene standards are implemented and monitored within the Fitness Centre.
- To attend to guests in both the waiting areas and Fitness Centre; ensuring that they are comfortable as well as offering refreshments.
- Will greet each guest with a smile and acknowledge guests, even in passing.
PERSONAL TRAINING
- To conduct Personal Training sessions based upon systematic, scientific counselling and conditioning principles to ensure safety and training efficiency in exercise prescription
- Ensure that training goals are realistic and attainable for guests to achieve their objectives
- To be fully aware of any contraindications that the guest may have before commencement of any exercise program
- Personal Trainer to maintain Category ‘A’ REPs UAE fitness registration, each year, by attaining a minimum of 10 CPD points in learning/workshop attendance
GROUP AND PRIVATE FITNESS/WELLNESS INSTRUCTION
- To produce a monthly attendance reports of all complimentary and private programs
- To ensure all guests sign participation waiver before commencing any complimentary or private wellness programs
- To conduct in villa/suite private wellness program in up-most professional manner and to adhere and follow private wellness menu and in-house training guidelines
- To conduct complimentary wellness programs in up-most professional manner and to adhere and follow complimentary wellness menu and in-house guidelines
- To conduct children’s physical activities where necessary
RULES & REGULATIONS / SAFETY
- To follow Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai SOPs concerning fitness centre opening and closing
- To follow Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai SOPs in regard to fitness centre etiquette and handling of all health and fitness equipment
- To provide sound, scientifically correct feedback to guests should they be performing unsafe exercises – guest must be approached and assisted with correct exercise execution
ADMINISTRATION OF COMPLIMENTARY/PRIVATE WELLNESS PROGRAMMES AND GUEST ACTIVITIES
- To liaise with health and fitness instructors to produce, prepare and execute complimentary and private wellness programs.
- To start and finish all appointments on time.
- To follow administration SOPs for all health and fitness activity bookings and private wellness bookings.
FITNESS CENTRE
- Professional appearance and conduct on the floor must be maintained at all times.
- All Personal Trainers are to be approachable and friendly at all times.
- Provide professional advice, assistance and education to all guests in the Fitness Centre, by walking the floor and focusing on exercise execution, exercise safety and thoughtful Member/Guest interaction.
- To follow SOPs in regard to welcoming guests to the fitness centre – this will include liability signing; self-introduction; the handing out sweat towels; water bottles etc
- Empty bins/pick up rubbish when necessary.
- Promote and communicate Fitness & Wellness activities and Complimentary/Private Wellness programs to guests.
- Provide positive encouragement guests whilst they are working out, where deemed appropriate.
FITNESS EVALUATION
- To conduct Fitness evaluations as per MODUB guidelines and in-house training specifications.
- All guests to complete Fitness Evaluation waiver before commencing.
- To offer sound and professional advice within the realms of personal knowledge when completing Fitness Evaluation.
- Adhere to prescribed Fitness Evaluation and use professional judgment as to whether certain modules of the evaluation are best left out
- ParQ, HIGH ‘medical’ risk members must not be allowed to proceed with Fitness Evaluation without previous medical clearance.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANLINESS
- Report any equipment malfunctions or damage immediately in the logbook, HOTSOS and if urgent; directly to the Engineering department.
- Complete all cleaning and maintenance checks thoroughly and diligently according to daily SOPs.
- Put away all equipment left unattended by guests.
MISCELLANEOUS
- Communicate with Fitness & Wellness Supervisor/Manager in the development of skills.
- Maintain flexibility in the times available for shifts.
- Have total commitment to and take full responsibility for all shifts set on the Rota.
- To obtain Fitness & Wellness Supervisor/Manager’s approval for any changes to set shifts.
- To assist Fitness & Wellness Supervisor/Manager in promoting all health and fitness activities and complimentary/private wellness programs to help overall health, fitness and wellness financial performance
- To assist in the development of marketing ideas for health, fitness and wellness programs and retreats
- Present ideas for new guest activities and promotions
