The Uniform Supervisor is responsible for managing the uniform operations of the hotel, ensuring all team members have the necessary uniforms that are well-maintained and presentable. This position includes overseeing uniform inventory, distribution, and ensuring compliance with Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai standards.
Responsibilities
Departmental:
- Manage the daily operation of uniforms.
- Train and coach uniform attendants and tailor/seamstress on textile and fabric to guarantee confident handling of delicate garments.
- Overlook uniform issuance and ensure the smooth exchange process.
- Work closely with outside laundry to always guarantee sufficient stock levels.
- Send out all scanned uniforms and print out daily uniform lists.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of uniform distribution and returns.
- Conduct regular uniform inventory and maintain a sufficient par level of new uniforms.
- Collect and prepare data of all uniform inventories.
- Keep a close eye on all uniforms and discard them as they become substandard.
- Ensure that all MOQA, LQE, LQA, Forbes & FLHSS&E standards are in place at all times.
- Implement quality control measures for uniform cleanliness and condition.
- Coordinate with the laundry department for timely cleaning and maintenance of uniforms.
- Manage vendor relations for uniform supplies and services.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies and standards regarding uniforms.
- Ensure uniform counts, availability, and arrangements are done to ease the delivery and collection for colleagues.
- Conduct inventories and order supplies for tailoring services, ensuring all necessary materials are available.
- Assist Laundry Manager and Executive Housekeeper in annual uniform budget preparations.
Colleague Relations:
- Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, and address any conflicts or issues that arise.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to maintain high standards of service.
- Maintain open communication channels with other departments to ensure seamless coordination and colleague satisfaction.
- Participate in regular meetings with management and staff to discuss operational updates, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Serve as a role model demonstrating humility, empathy, integrity, and a commitment to service excellence.
- Motivate and inspire the Laundry Team to continuously deliver formidable luxury service.
- Support laundry manager with all departmental reports.
- Warmly engage and converse with colleagues, ensuring a supportive and collaborative environment.
- Ensure colleague satisfaction in accordance with applicable MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQEs).
- Create WOW moments to surprise and delight colleagues.
- Listen to any colleague’s concerns and, if possible, resolve them effectively; otherwise, refer to the manager in charge.
- Be colleague-focused and make sure that team member needs are met accordingly.
- Meet with colleagues to understand their uniform preferences and requirements.
Guest Relations:
- Warmly engage and converse with guests when in guest areas.
- Address guest inquiries or issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure guest and colleague satisfaction in accordance with the applicable MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQEs).
- Assist all departments in creating WOW moments to surprise and delight in-house guests.
- Listen to guest complaints and resolve them effectively when possible, or refer them to the manager in charge.
- Maintain a guest-focused approach, ensuring that guest wishes are fulfilled at all times during interactions.
Skills and Qualifications
Education & Certificates
- Degree or Higher National Diploma in Textile Management, Uniform Management, Laundry Management, or a related field.
- Certifications or diplomas in textile care, uniform management, or laundry operations.
Experience
- Minimum 1 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a luxury hotel or similar environment.
- Hotel opening experience is an advantage
Technical Skills
- Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
- Competent computer skills including MS Office.
- Experience with hotel uniform management systems Shiji Infrasys, RFID.

- Basic tailoring and embroidery skills.
Communication and Language skills
- Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and guests.
- Very good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Verbal and written communication skills in Arabic or other languages are preferred.
