About the job
Based Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, the Marketing Communications Manager is responsible for all matters relating to public relations, advertising, direct mail, promotions and other marketing communications. The Marketing Communications Manager reports to the Director of Marketing & Commerce.
As Marketing Communications Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:
1. Public Relations & Media
- Draft news releases on newsworthy stories (refer to PR Manual for ideas).
- Arrange distribution of releases.
- Ensure maintenance and continual updating of local media lists.
- Maintain good relations with local media through telephone and social contact.
- Meet and provide tours of hotel facilities and services to visiting press (in the absence of the DOMC).
2. Advertising, Promotions & Photography
- Monitor the approved budget for local advertising.
- Liaise with advertising agency to vet written briefs, media schedules, and production cost estimates before DOMC approval.
- Coordinate and implement the hotel’s local advertising plan.
- Stay informed of the international advertising plan and MOHG monthly media schedule.
- Monitor advertising placements and provide feedback to agencies.
- Assist the DOMC in coordinating and controlling Food & Beverage promotions and hotel marketing drives.
- Arrange necessary collateral production for promotions.
- Coordinate in-house photography for F&B promotions, VIP visits, and social functions.
- Assist the DOC with hotel photography shoots (for collaterals).
3. Collateral & Direct Marketing
- Assist with writing and proofreading hotel marketing collaterals.
- Collate all necessary materials for printing.
- Liaise with production houses or graphic designers on production schedules.
- Ensure all collaterals are updated and current.
- Liaise with MOHG central mail-house (PMS) for inventory control.
- Coordinate the production of existing collateral and the development of new projects and materials.
- Oversee hotel merchandising, sourcing new projects with MOHG in line with marketing objectives.
- Maintain and update the hotel’s database.
- Assist DOMC with materials for direct mail activities.
- Produce high-quality and appropriate collateral for specific direct marketing programs.
4. Budget & General Duties
- Control the advertising and promotional budgets, ensuring accountability for all expenditure within the monthly budget.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by the department head.
As Marketing Communications Manager, we expect from you:
Educational level:
- High School Education
- Degree in Communications Management or Advertising desirable but not required
Work experience:
- Minimum 3 years working experience with at least 2 years of PR or Marketing Services experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in Asian hospitality
- Experience in working with and directing advertising agencies
- Knowledge of photography and cataloguing processes
- Experience in production and printing skills
- Experience in writing skills - copy writing or press release creation
- Experience in database management and direct mail
